- To know what my disability is and how it affects my ability to learn and live independently.
- To be given information about my assessments, services, and Individualized Education Program (IEP) in a language and format I can understand
- To participate in my IEP meetings.
- To have people who understand my disability be part of my IEP team.
- To accept or refuse services.
- To disagree with my IEP and to receive help in writing a complaint, requesting mediation or a due process hearing.

- To ask questions, ask for the support I need so I can learn about my disability and advocate for my needs.
- To ask questions until I understand.
- To attend all my meetings and actively participate in planning for my adult life.
- To invite people (friend, parent, grandparent, coach, teacher…) I trust and who know me well.
- To understand that IF I refuse services, my school/work program may be affected and I may not get these services back.
- To follow through and be cooperative with any process that I request.
